Our Treatment ProcessWhat you need to know

Fire Anti works with the client to understand their needs and forms an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) system specifically to serve their fire ant needs.

What is IPM? Integrated Pest Management is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that relies on a combination of common-sense practices. IPM programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment. This information, in combination with available pest control methods, is used to manage pest damage by the most economical means, and with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment.

Step 1 – Initial Inspection

  • Before arriving at location a satellite image is generated to be marked during inspection
  • Speak directly with clients to get as much knowledge about infestation (if any) on property
  • Inspect all areas of property, monitor ant populations, log data
  • Bring data back to Fire Anti headquarters and calculate acreages using Google satellite imagery
  • Infestation map is color codded
  • Red = infested with difficult access / treatment capability
  • Orange = infested but with easy access / treatment capability
  • White = not infested but will need to be monitored / border treated
  • A quote is then generated based upon amount of acreage of each color

Step 2 – Main Treatment

  • Treatments will be once per 30 to 45 days, performed by 2 or more Fire Anti field specialists
  • Treatments will continue for approximately 3-6 months, depending on the level of infestation as treatments progress
  • We monitor the fire ant population and provide you with updated survey maps throughout the treatment period
  • We would ask that you please tie up any animals during treatment and for 3 hours post treatment

Equipment and Baits

Our treatments are specifically designed to be enticing and toxic to only fire ants. Unlike most fire ant control methods (such as Talstar/Orthomax/etc), which entail spraying the entire land area with poison, we use a specially designed formula that will not poison beneficial insects, bees, geckos, vegetation, pets, or your family.

All products used are over the counter pest controls that require no restricted use license and have extremely low toxicity levels. Our bait is made to stick to trees and foliage, which is necessary to reach arboreal nesting ants. All pest controls used are labeled safe for fruit bearing trees and other food related agriculture. Our bait is mixed into Gel Bait, which allows it to remain active for long periods of time, even withstanding most Hawaiian rains. The Gel Bait used is a very safe and effective way of killing fire ants. We will use a combination of this Gel Bait with growth regulator and a low toxicity granular for infested borders.

Step 3 – final inspection

  • Once ant populations are under control we will do a final inspection to make sure no LFA nests can be found
  • A border treatment will be performed based upon surround property infestations
  • This step will be considered complete when the client is in agreement that LFA infestations are non-existent or have reached a controllable level

Step 4 – Protection plan

  • At the conclusion of final inspection, depending on surrounding property infestations,
additional measures may need to be taken to ensure LFA do not re-enter and begin colonizing
  • Client will be given a choice to enter into a protection plan
(explained in further detail below) or continuing protection on their own
  • At the conclusion of final inspection, depending on surrounding property infestations, additional measures may need to be taken to ensure LFA do not re-enter and begin colonizing
  • Client will be given a choice to enter into a protection plan (explained in further detail below) or continuing protection on their own
  • Extended Protection Plans

After we have successfully killed all colonies and gotten ant populations under complete control you may elect to enter into a quarterly service in which we will continue to monitor and apply border treatments. Based upon an assessment of your lot, you will be given a price per quarter. Prices can be seen on previous page.

What our extended protection plan includes:

    • -Continued monitoring / border treatments when necessary
    • -24/7 availability to speak to someone on the Fire Anti team
    • -Someone there on the property for you within 48 hours of a call/email
    • -Peace of mind that no new infestations of LFA are possible

***Note*** If you opt out of an extended protection plan, we will evaluate the property as a new infestation and therefor a main treatment price will be charged.
